Ties that bind, June 15, 2011 By This review is from: Fellowes Galaxy E Comb Binding Machine (5218301) (Office Product) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?) This machine was offered via the Vine program, providing much more product power/service than I need, but it is useful to recognize its worth for potentially bigger projects down the road. My original purpose was to produce booklets for my small home business. My husband was tired of carting a manual comb binder from work so I could get the books made.
The machine was well packaged and the directions were precise and clear. Solid and sturdy, the Galaxy E is suitable for handling large office demands. After reading the specifications, I noted that this unit is overkill for my puny needs, but that doesn't make it less useful.
It took only a minute or two to find the neatly stored power cord, which is in a separate compartment, and advantageous for the portability of the machine. Set-up was a snap, and I had my first booklet done in a matter of minutes. The electric punch will accommodate up to 25 sheets of paper, and the comb-opening lever is straightforward... Read more

Robust mechanism, accurate punching, plastic case., June 30, 2011 By Loren Woirhaye "Direct Response copywriting ... (Easthampton, Massachusetts - Los Angeles, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fellowes Galaxy E Comb Binding Machine (5218301) (Office Product) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?) This model overcomes problems of lower-end models that lead
to mispunched holes. In this unit, gravity aligns the paper
into the punching slot. The punch operates electrically
and while it does take it's time, the mechanism sounds like
it is geared for punching power but with a small motor. I'd
expect a serious production punch would be pneumatic.
The holes come out in the right places and it is not hard
to achieve consistency. I've used a few manual binding machines
and there's a lot of frustration involved with some of the models
that have a handle you pull to operate the punch - not that
the punching is difficult but that the holes come out too
close to the edge of the paper, which ruins the sheets.
The Galaxy can be leaned up on its back end. It takes up
about as much space as a portable electric typewriter and
weighs about 25 lbs.
While the mechanisms seem to be robust enough for... Read more

Great - especially if you are part of a team, June 16, 2011 This review is from: Fellowes Galaxy E Comb Binding Machine (5218301) (Office Product) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?) Things I love about this model:
The punch is electric and easily handled the specified number/weight of paper
It is easy to adjust the punch for precise alignment
The comb binder is easily lifted out and can be used by another person to assemble the books
It has a handy drawer to store combs in
It can handle a large variety of comb sizes
It has a sturdy, durable quality
Things to be aware of:
It's a pretty large footprint - not necessarily a bad thing.
I think this will give years of use and of the various comb binders I have used, I would rate this one up at the top.
